Return of The American Horror Story Late Show with Sarah Crow - "Dark Cousin" and "The Origin of Monstrosity"

Coming back from the dead as if it were everyone from season 1, this past Thursday "The American Horror Story Late Show" with Sarah Crow returned to Spreecast, where Sarah and I discussed the newest episode "Dark Cousin" and the episode we missed "The Origins of Monstrosity."

Admittedly, trying to cram two weeks full of the acid trip that is "American Horror Story: Asylum" is no easy task, and we cover everything from our love of psychotic children, to Frances Conroy's blessed return to the show, and this season's portrayal of rape compared to the last's. Plus Sarah geeks out as she tries to tie both American Horror Story seasons together, and I mix up the show's only two black characters and never quite recover from the embarrassment. I even go into full-on film-student rant mode at one point. Assuming you're very forgiving, the archived show is a good time, and I encourage you to check it out on Sarah's channel.

It's really, really, really important to check these out if you enjoy what Sarah does, and like seeing me on her shows. Views are everything people, so if you're a fan, or know fans, tell your friends!

And don't forget to join us Monday at 1 PM EST for a recap of the mid-season finale of AMC's "The Walking Dead," the last time you'll be able to join Sarah and I for zombie-goodness until the show returns in the Spring. In the meantime, you can follow Sarah on Twitter @sarahgcrow [and me @themojowire], catch last week's Walking Dead Recap, and check out Sarah's other Spreecasts [and maybe even watch the American Horror Story one again] here.

Spreecast Roundup with Sarah Crow - "The American Horror Story Late Show" and "The Walking Dead Recap" for the week of 11/11-11/17.

Before the new episode comes on tonight, I thought everyone might want to catch up with last week's undead shenanigans with Sarah Crow and I on her Spreecast Channel.

We cover all the "Lori's Dead" fallout in the episode "Say the Word," talk a lot about Redneck parenting skills, and how madness plays such a big role in this show. I think it's really fascinating how we get to see so many different characters reach their particular breaking point, and not only what comes during that [in this case, some pretty intense hack and slash style axe-killin'], but also what it's like to come back from that, or if the characters ever really can, or do.

You can watch the archived episode of us recapping the show here, but be kind - we are both quite noticeably wiped out from Sarah's wedding this past weekend. And by the by, congratulations to the newlyweds, and send them their regards on Twitter @sarahgcrow and her hubby @ryaniscool. Congratulations, guys.

And finishing up this past week in horror television is "The American Horror Story Late Show" recapping the episode "I am Anne Frank Pt. II." If you've been following the show [AHS: Asylum, not our Spreecast - though why wouldn't you be keeping up with both?], this was a pretty huge episode, finally unmasking the man known as Bloody Face, in quite spectacular fashion.

And keeping with the theme of the show,  Sarah and I have quite the good time, talking about everything from speech impediment that makes "horror" sound like "whores," the nuances of Sex, Murder, and SexMurder, and necrophilia. We also manage to talk a bit about the show! Not to toot our own horn, but all the Spreecasts Sarah's had me on have been great fun, but I'm not sure why, but we just could not stop laughing during this one.

You can watch the archived Spreecast here. I'm also contemplating suggesting a drinking game, where when watching these, you drink every time Sarah and I start talking about the X-Files or Law and Order: SVU, and try not to die of alcohol poisoning.

And as always, spoilers, sweeties.

Check out both shows, Sarah's other Spreecasts that don't feature me [you don't want to get too much of me, folks], and remember to follow us on Twitter @sarahgcrow and @themojowire.

Last week's Spreecasts, still this week fresh: "American Horror Story: Asylum" and "The Walking Dead" Recaps.

Between the election last week, and the prep for, and eventual marriage of, our lovely and brilliant host Sarah Crow, I didn't get a chance to post these, but they did still happen despite how absolutely swamped Sarah was.

That's professionalism, folks. Oh, and early warning because of the nature of these particular shows - Spoilers, sweeties.

First up is last week's The Walking Dead Recap show, looking at the episode "Killer Within," where Sarah and I discuss the most heart-wrenching entry of the season yet, and say goodbye to not one, but two [and possibly three!] of Rick's group, and see just how horrible even the best decisions Rick has tried to make go horribly wrong. But along with all the death, there's a birth too, one that has been long awaited. So join us as we talk about child-rearing during the Zombie Apocalypse, how AMC might want to consider a support group for their female leads, and how I might be the only Lori fan in the whole damn universe. Plus, I keep up my campaign to get Chris Hardwick on the show, though this past week, just so I could give him a hug.

And right before I hopped a plan to New York City to prepare for our hosts beautiful nuptials, we also managed to get in a recap/review for last week's American Horror Story: Asylum episode "I am Anne Frank" - part 1 of the first two parter this season. Introducing probably the only science/horror trope so far missing from the series, we get Nazis in Briarcliff now, along with the amazingly talented Franka Potente, by far one of my favorite actresses, for just... so many reasons. We also talk about Zachary Quinto's character finally going a little creepy on us, flail wildly as we try to figure out just what the hell is the single thread that ties aliens, Nazis, demons, and this insanity together, plus Sarah giggles like a school girl when I say "boners." All not to be missed.

So make sure you check out both archived shows on Sarah's channel, send her congratulations for being Mrs. Crow Biracree now, and as always, you can follow Sarah on Twitter @sarahgcrow, while I'm hanging out there @themojowire.

New Spreecast: American Horror Story Late Show - "Nor'easter" with Sarah Crow.

Thanks to probably weather-related technical difficulties "The American Horror Story Late Show" on Sarah Crow's Spreecast Channel was late in sort of a different way.

Of course, if you think that'd stop Sarah and I from bringing you our usual brand of horror-recappin', you're out of your mind. This past week's episode of "American Horror Story: Asylum" was somewhat eerily entitled "Nor'easter," and saw the show really take off for the first time this season. Demons, aliens, classic cinema, and Zachary Quinto still looking kind of amazing in a way that makes me realize I'm way more comfortable with my sexuality than even I expected. It was a great show this week, with the standout being [in my opinion] Lily Rabe, playing a nun that has suddenly gone more than a little Iago on us.

So check out the archived show on Sarah's channel, and let us know what you think. And if you're a fan, you can join us tomorrow at 1:00 PM EST live for The Walking Dead Recap show.

As always, you can follow Sarah on Twitter @sarahgcrow, while I'm hanging out there @themojowire

Oh, and just in case! Spoilers, sweeties.

New Spreecasts: "American Horror Story: Tricks and Treats" and "The Walking Dead: Walk with Me."

Storming though it may be, don't think hunkered down New York resident and internet journalist Sarah Crow is going to let that keep her from serving up another double dose of horror on her Spreecast Channel, and as the snow falls here, don't think I'd miss out either.

The big news on television this week is that one of the most noteworthy comic book villains of the modern age has finally made it on the small screen, with AMC's "The Walking Dead" finally introducing the The Governor. The third episode in the season "Walk with Me" takes a step back from the prison, Rick Grimes, and his crew of survivors, instead following fan-favorite Michonne and Andrea to the town of Woodbury.

Sarah and I discuss how the Guv's first episode went over, whether David Morrissey manages to blend in seamlessly with the old cast, this episodes drastically difference pacing from the rest of the series, and the return of Michael Rooker as Daryl's one-handed brother Merle.

Though slightly shorter for fear of power outages, the show this week is 100% more concentrated with awesome, and you can watch the archived Spreecast on Sarah's Channel here.

On Sunday night we also covered the second episode of FX's "American Horror Story: Asylum" appropriately titled "Tricks and Treats" for the holiday. Fitting for Halloween, the episode has a woman of ill repute in peril, an exorcism, and either a skinned or skin-wearing slasher.

The latter was the big point of conversation this week's "American Horror Story Late Show" as Sarah and I get rather in to the mystery of the monster of Bloody Face, and even dive into the rather extensive speculation about the nature of this season's signature creature. You can also watch as I literally make an ass of myself every time I open my mouth, insulting wide swaths of folks with single sentences [that Joe Biden didn't call me after to ask how I was doing was a huge surprise].

The show is archived on Sarah's Channel here, and don't forget to join us live this Thursday night at 11 PM EST for a recap of Wednesday's episode so you too can be a part of the show. And as always, you can follow Sarah on Twitter @sarahgcrow, and me @themojowire.

As always, spoilers sweeties. Oh, and weeks since Chris Hardwick hasn't answered my challenge: That'd be two[2]! Come on, Chris. Sarah's the best host. And I'm a worthy and honorable opponent. It'll be fun.

To my friends in the North East - I hope you're all safe, and as dry as possible. New England was one of the few places that ever felt like home to me, and even though my relationship with New York is somewhat complicated, that doesn't mean I love it any less. I hope everyone is doing well, and if anyone wants to share a first-hand account of what they went through during the Hurricane, but don't have a place to present it, email me at mojo.wire.productions@gmail.com and I'd be glad to host it here.

The Walking Dead "Sick"/American Horror Story Asylum - 2(!!) New Spreecasts with Sarah Crow

Not one, but two new Spreecast have went up, with yours truly as the guest of the ineffable Sarah Crow.

First up is our coverage of the premiere of FX's American Horror Story: Asylum - either season two of the network's one-of-kind homage to the genre, or a new mini-series under a familiar name. We talk about a wide array of things concerning the episode, from comparisons to American Horror Story's first go-round, whether or not the appearance of Maroon 5's Adam Levine ruins things or not, science as a device in horror, and the familiar trope of people just wanting to have sex getting offed in the most grisly ways possible.

Or you could just watch as sometime-guest on Sarah's channel Ryan Biracree keeps me laughing so hard in the chat that we almost have to stop the show.

New episodes of "The American Horror Story Late Show" go live on Spreecast between 10:00 and 11:00 PM EST - join us, and join in. Or catch the show archived here.

This past Monday afternoon we also filmed the second episode of "The Walking Dead" recap show. Sarah and I are still pumped at the show's faster pacing, and more nuanced touch with the characters, so naturally we meet a lot more new people this episode. Come see us talk about the continuation of the Ricktatorship, what an apocalypse could be like for a one legged man, and why we want more Big Tiny [not what you think! Perverts!]. Plus, with Lori still pregnant - babies, babies, babies.

The Walking Dead recap starts every Monday at 1:00 PM EST, and we welcome you to come watch live and contribute. If you miss it - shit happens - Spreecast archives it immediately after, and you can still see the best Walking Dead post-show - period.

That's right, Chris Hardwick. It's been a week since we called you out. Come on, C-Hard. Don't be afraid - we'd love to have you.

As always, Spoilers, sweeties. And a special thanks to to Horrorfullife.com for helping me spread the word.
